Boba

Ok, below are the pictures from Vegas. I have more candid ones but these are the best of the best. We stayed out late and just had a general old good time. Since the page is on geo'sucks' if too many people are accessing the page it will go down for an hour or so. So dont refresh! It's the same page! Anyways, come back an hour and it should be up again. What else is there to say, we ate at buffet, had expensive wine and expensive meat, walked around a lot and danced a lot. We had hurt feet but Dhivya and Rethi could still dance still dawn if you let them.

One thing I do want to tell is as we were walking through the desert mid 90's heat from Monte Carlo to Bellagio (which by the way is in their fall theme... see the pic of the Bellagio gardens with the pumpkins behind us), I saw a flashing neon sign that said "Boba"!

I said "Look! A pearl tea place!"

We stopped and 4 girls pondered whether to go in. It was midday and we were all hot and thirsty. It was decided that we will stop by on our way back. But after a block I told them that I was going to get it now, not later. So we all retraced our steps back. As I placed my order, the orange hair Asian guy from Taiwan told me "Our boba isn't ready until later."

"Oh. When will it be ready?"

"About an hour."

An hour! We can't wait that long! We had friends to meet and shopping to do! And what kind of shop doens't have goods ready especially having been open for a couple hours already?!

Smart Rethi says "Well...maybe the demand for pearl tea isn't as it is back home..."

To which I replied, "No demand?" Meaning there aren't enough Asians in Las Vegas to create a pearl tea demand? hmmm...this may be true since at the clubs I did spot out the few Asians amongst the mix crowd easy because there weren't that many.

So we left the shop, me disappointed and having to walk longer in the heat because we had to double back. Sorry guys (especially to Dhivya, who bowed before the porcelain throne and woke up that morning headachey and dizzy and was now walking through desert heat with us).

Needless to say, after lunch we went back and I got my drink. All of us except for Dhivya (not a pearl tea fan, go figure) had one. And sure maybe it was the heat, or the wait, or the long awaited anticipation, but it was THE best I had ever tasted. I even finished off Rethi's because she saw I finished mine first (way before we got back to our room). So in conclusion boys and girls, I have been to the desert and there is pearl tea. Yes there is. :)

I hope you enjoy the pictures and don't forget to post your comments!

Me back

I will update Las Vegas more later with pictures. but for now, we made it back from Vegas on sunday morning. We had no sleep since our flight was 6 am, so after arriving back to the apartment at 830 am, i took a shower and then zonked out. i slept the whole day. woke up at 5 pm and got ready to go to the punchline with Ray and his friends, his new thing for getting all his friends to meet each other. i was tired and didnt want to get up but made it there anyway. Punchline was a good show for $5. Went to bed around 1 am and hoped that I would hear my phone alarm for work tomorrow.

I didnt. I woke up at 930 am and arrived here at work. It's going to be a sluggish day...

from yours truly at Monte Carlo...

I just checked the Monte carlo wedding chapel for my friend Michelle who's thinking of getting married here next year. how odd it was to pretend that i was the bride interested in the chapel to make my questions easier...anyhow, its a nice chapel.

I am at an Internet kiosk at the hotel so I thought i'd update you guys. its been hot but because i like hot weather, its been a nice dry 95 degrees, very bearable sans humidity. Rethi and div are resting in the room, diep is out shopping with Laura and her friends. I'm about to go take a nap too. We're going to have a light dinner and go to club Rain at Palms, supposedly a very good club because everyone we know has said to go there. So far a four hour wait, we're trying to get there by 8 pm, yeah right...So far its been no gambling, lots of shopping, more shopping planned for tomorrow ( not my idea) and then staying out late and partying tonight and then on to studio 54 for tomorrow. its been sort of quiet for a thursday but we expect it to be packed tonight and saturday.

I think Vegas has lost its charm as its sort of getting old. but I dont know...i just know that the first time was a lot of fun. but this time, eh. but to end on a high night, we have plenty of skyy berry, and plenty of other goody snacks in the room to keep us going...

Vegas here we come

ok, its 635 pm and i'm off to meet Div, Rethi and Diep at div's house to go to Oakland to fly to Vegas! ah! its just us four girls and we're meeting Laura Tang and her friend there. We're staying at Monte Carlo. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather as it is getting chilly here in san jose, its fall alright.

btw, did i mention that Rethi tried out for American Idol this Monday? she didnt make the cut but she did try out! in San francisco, if she had made the first cut, she would have to then audition before Simon, Paula and that third judge i forget his name. I have my digi camera so I'll be posting pictures as soon as I get back.

and on another note, there seems to be some control issues over bridal shower/bachelorette...sigh...bride wants things a certain way and there seems to be discontent over who's making the decisions. ok. well, i'm off. have a good weekend everyone.

Vegas? already?

i mentioned vegas awhile back and it is this weekend. it seems a little bit trivial with so many other things going on (interview nick, buy bridal shower gift, dance practice is behind schedule, need to start dance practice by myself cuz i suck...). am reading cherry's book, Diary of a Mad Bride, she sent me. amusing yet somehow so real.

favorite song of the moment: White Flag by Dido

i dont think its been released yet since I cant seem to find it at the music stores. Darn lawsuit, can't dl songs anymore and am going through the old fashioned route of checking them out at the music stores.

Message board

I've decided to call my guestbook a message board since that is the way it seems to be working out. So you can post your messages and responses can be posted back and forth. So enough of that.

It was another hot weekend. And fall is suppose to start in a few days! Saturday was Phil and Anu's going away party and so Ray, Surai, Sanjay, Hai and I all headed up there. The others all came separately and it was fun. I even saw Seenae there! With her roommate Christine? Of course, the person we all have in common is Cherry. Conversation turned to how much contact we have with Cherry. It seems like we are all on different levels as Ray had a PHONE call with Cherry, Seenae had a CARD from Cherry and it was only last Friday that I heard that ok, I'm getting a package from Cherry. Nice to know that Cherry is doing something over there in NC. :)

Wedding party plans for the bride went smoothly yesterday. We have a designated leader and we'e back on track. it will be rushed but i think we can do it with 2 weeks notice. I never heard of someone wanting a bigger rock than what they received. But this one does. She really really really thinks hers is small now, after having it for awhile. An upgrade on your ring? Even if you buy it yourself? my goodness, you're losing the whole picture and buying into the competitition thing! I just can't believe it.

anyone have a leader to spare?

so my posts are a little backwards regarding the weekend. On Friday I got a call from Surai to get pearl tea and we ended up hopping from restauraunt to restauraunt for some food at santana row. one had a blackout and so we had to leave (firetrucks and the whole siren thing). All the waits were for 1-2 hours and throughout it all what I was really craving for was some KFC popcorn chicken, but nooooo...a sitdown place it is then. anyways it was too hot to go home so we just stayed out late in the warm night air. see the results of our trying to kill time...

Santana Row Pictures

There seems to be some lost leadership amongst the girls for a certain friend's wedding. fingers aren't being pointed but it is suffice to say that with no chosen maid of honor, no one is taking it upon themselves to be the lead in plannning for bridal showers/bachelorette. i personally dont feel up to it myself but we will be meeting to discuss some logical flow of plans so that it will happen. sigh. i was surprised myself to see that it is for all intents and purposes October, and one month til the wedding! and counting in lead times for save the dates...mailing...responses....blah. we need to hack this out with the group is all i can say.

Pictures inside!

Jay Mohr was funny at the Improv! We had dinner and then it was over to the Improv. After that we walked around downtown san jose, and ended up at south first billiards until 2 am when they closed. this may be the last warm night of the summer as the night remained comfortably warm. ok, so its picture sharing time. thanks to Loan for throwing this page together.

Just a work day

work was interesting. the old butterflies with giving a presentation never really goes away. always there, especially since your audience includes the CEO, your bosses and all your colleagues and they are all older by 20 years min and you are the only young one. blah. i wonder if it gets better with age and experience or is it just because i still feel out of my league even though they seem to think I am superwoman at work?? i never hid my un-experience but they all seem to think i can do it all.

anyways, what a gray day! its fall and winter now?? how sad as it marks another season. you can always live your life waiting on the smallest of light rays but you need the darkness in order to turn back on the lights. that's just my thought of the day. no further explanation will be given.

If you are bored, go to here for some money origami ideas...i made the bow and its pretty cool.
